Indian buffet

Visited the Bombay Garden for their $10 all-you-can-eat buffet. I must admit that from an Indian food addict point of view, it was disappointing. The naan was too dense and pancake like, as opposed to light and fluffy. All of the sauces were reasonably bland, as if, like most macrobrews, they're designed to be 'universally appealing', or as I like to think of it, attempting to give them as few unappealing (and thus unique) characteristics as possible. This, of course, ends up making things rather unappealing, because they no longer have character.

Anyway, none of this is to say it was bad; it simply wasn't truly good. But definately filling for the $10.

Gateway Cafe's Finest Hour

Gateway Cafe's special today was sesame chicken with a nice light sauce. Best ever.

Beat like Beagles

Today is the last day of daytime baseball, so DE and I decided to take a long lunch and to enjoy the Angels vs. the Red Sox.

After a 2 hour dining extravaganza at a San Mateo sports joint, I feel a little bit like how Maggie and Molly must feel right now.

Chicken Curry Beyond Human Understanding

There's no reason why Gateway Cafe should have good chicken curry; however, they somehow do. Of course, like all other specials at the good ol' Gateway, the curry is paired with a bit o' green salad and sticky rice.

Today's lunch gives me pause. There should be a Food Coma Scale that is roughly equivalent to the Richter Scale. Falling asleep in your plate while eating would be a 9.0 -- still feeling hungry afterward would be a 1.0.

Chicken Curry has left me somewhere in the neighborhood of a 5.0: My eyelids aren't quite down to half-mast, but I'm feeling more than a little post-lunch nirvana.

Jeffrey's in San Mateo

DE & I met a couple friends at Jeffrey's who had never tasted their delectable burgers.

They should have a sign above the door that reads, Enjoy Your Food Coma.
